Inventor and YouTuber Colin Furze has adapted a motorbike so it can carry a pizza oven and a cook, who can make the Italian delicacy while it is being delivered. The incredible invention, which comes with its own kitchen work top and drawers for the pizza toppings, means customers never have to eat cold pizza again.
Colin, 40, who is renowned for his unusual inventions, including the world’s fastest mobility scooter and a drivable hot tub car, stretched a motorbike by two metres so it could hold a special pizza oven and a seat for a chef. He added a work top so the pizza dough can be rolled out and the tomato sauce and toppings added, whilst the motorbike is driven to the delivery address. The chef then pops the pizza in the oven for three minutes so it is piping hot when the bike pulls up at the customer’s house.
Colin, from Stamford, Lincolnshire, said: “I came up with the idea as food never tastes quite so good when it is delivered compared to when you eat in a restaurant as the journey means it gets battered around and cools down. This invention means the pizza is delivered straight from the oven right onto someone’s plate so there is no time for it to get cold.”
Colin, who linked up with restaurant, Pizza Da Mario in Stamford, to get advice on making the pizzas, said he was very pleased with the bike, but admitted it wouldn’t work so well if it was raining.
He added: “The pizza oven is very heavy so the bike is hard to manoeuvre and it’s difficult because the rider can’t see what the chef is doing. It’s pretty hard to roll out the pizza dough and we had a few teething problems where it flew off the table, but when we got it to work it tasted really good. The bike can go up to 60mph but we usually go around 30mph as it’s easier to make the pizza if it’s not going so fast. The oven is gas-powered so you have to leave it for 10 minutes to heat up, but once you put the pizza inside it only takes a few minutes to cook."
